Heron Preston

The official schedule for New York Fashion Week runs from February 10 to February 15 and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) is pleased to announce that designer Heron Preston will be included. According to Steven Kolb, CEO of the CFDA, this addition demonstrates the expanding prominence of New York as a hub for both creativity and commerce.

Heron Preston is a New York native who has already established himself on international platforms and will contribute to the overall strength of the American collections. The designer has announced that the pieces in his upcoming collection will encapsulate the spirit of New York and include distinctive artwork that is representative of the city.

Thom Browne

The attendance of CFDA Chairman Thom Browne, who will be displaying his fall/winter 2023 collection on February 14th, will be one of the event's highlights. This is a big deal because the designer hasn't presented during New York Fashion Week since September 2021. He usually presents his collections in Paris. The occasion takes place on the same day as the opening of the exhibition "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion" at the Metropolitan Museum of America.

Thom Browne's journey in the fashion industry is an interesting one, starting with his business studies at the University of Notre Dame where he was also a competitive swimmer. He entered the acting industry after receiving his degree in 1988 and had some success in Hollywood's commercial industry. However, in 1997, he left for New York City to pursue his love for fashion. His distinctive designs soon established themselves in the fashion industry and started the trend for slim-fitting menswear despite the fact that he had no professional experience as a designer.

Luar

Luar is a fashion label based in Williamsburg, founded by Raul Lopez, who is also the co-founder of Hood By Air. The label's name is a reverse of Lopez's own name.

Raul Lopez, of Dominican descent, has been designing since he was 12 years old and was influenced by the bustling downtown New York scene that he grew up witnessing. He wanted to bring that energy to his friends who lived in the uptown Washington Heights area and would frequently attend Dominican clubs and parties.

The philosophy behind Luar is a blend of New York City and Dominican Republic, embodying the spirit of constant curiosity for the future. The brand represents the intersection of these two distinct cultures and the excitement for what tomorrow may bring.
